Our friend, Alma, and her husband have been coming over to the house recently to work on Alma's resumé. She went to school with JP and is looking for a job. JP and Max, Alma's husband, were making fun of the picture she put on her resumé (here you have to put a picture of you on it), and told her she should change the picture.
Unbeknownst to Alma, Max and JP DID change her photo. To this one:
And, instead of going home and opening up her resumé file before sending it to potential employers, she just attached the file as it was when she left our house. Oops!! After sending it to one potential employer, she opened the file to see Krusty the Clown in place of her picture! At least she only sent it to one place... and we figured, hey, maybe they'll call her for an interview just out of curiosity! hehe!

Graduation Time!
JP has his graduation and graduation party last week! We went out to dinner after the graduation with a bunch of friends who'd been with us through all the joys and challenges of school. Then saturday was the party with JP's school friends! It was a blast!

Milestones
This week is a big week for us!
Today is our second anniversary! It seems like it's been a LOT less time than that... that means it's been a good two years, right? :) We're going to the restaurant where JP proposed to me for lunch!
Wednesday is JP's last day of classes FOR.EVER. (Although I have been hearing the word "maestria" passing between JP and his friends... guess what that means... hehe) He's graduating as the valedictorian of his major, and probably of the whole class of 2010 in all majors!!!
Classes...
Randomness...
And late-nite taco runs...
It's been a great 3 years of college!!
Tomorrow and wednesday I'm turning in my documents to become a mexican citizen, taking my mexican history and culture test, and being approved for being able to speak spanish well-enough (they guy who's testing me laughed when I asked him if he thought I speak good spanish - that I should hear some people struggle through making full sentences... and he approves some of them!)
Please pray for that all goes well in this process... I have two possible SNAFUs - I have two different names on legal documents: my mexican documents have two last names (my maiden name and my mom's maiden name - that's how they do it here) and the USA documents just have my maiden name (haven't changed to Uribe yet); and, my passport is brand new, it doesn't have any stamps in it, and I need to show stamps for all the times I've left Mexico in the past two years - which has only been twice - and those stamps are in a cancelled passport. These two things wouldn't be a problem in the US, but here they are VERY strict about ALL documents having the EXACT same name/address/validity/etc.
Anyhow, we have a lot to be thankful for this week! God has been good! And will continue to be too! :)

More School Fun
As the school year, AND Jean Paul's college carreer come to and end, his classmates have been goofing around after school with their cameras to make sure they get the good memories on film!
Jean Paul has really had some good opportunities to share Christ with some of his classmates, mainly Burno and Chava. No one has made a decision to follow Christ, yet, but at least they know...
I feel like a part of the class too, since we have so many classmates in our house, and I go to school every friday, waiting for JP in the cafeteria to go to our small group directly afterwards...
I think I'll miss these guys too!

The End of an Era
Jean Paul started his college carreer about a month after we started dating in 2007. So, he's been in school through our entire relationship! However, this stage of our lives is coming to an end. JP started his las term of school in May, and will finish in August! He's finished his practicum, and will do community service (required for all college students) beginning in August. His graduation will be the beginning of January. He will be graduating from the UNIVA (Universidad del Valle de Atemejac), with a degree in International Commerce. We are looking into a busisness opportunity where JP will have a chance to use this degree just a few months from now!
We're thankful that God has provided the opportunity for JP to go to college and graduate at the top of his class. We're thankful for his dad who has been able to pay for almost all of the school expenses.
We're very excited about JP finishing school! But it will be a big change for us as well, especially for JP as he'll most likely not be seeing his school friends much. I'll miss having them in the house too, even though sometimes I'm not thrilled to cook dinner for 5 at 11pm, but I will miss the classmates, who I feel like are MY classmates too!
JP has been in an evvening program for students who work as well as attend classes. Most of the students, like JP, began college when they were 23 or 24, and several of them are even into their 30's. This has been an advantage because these are students who are really focused on finishing school well and paying attention to learn every detail necesary to be able to put their learning in action, instead of 18 year olds who are just in college because their parents wanted them to go.
Here's several of JP's classmates, plus me and one of the students' babies, on the day that they took pictures for their diplomas (titulos). Hence the suits and ties!
